It’s official. We are a Great Place to Work.

Candour is officially a Great Place to Work. This certification validates our commitment to a supportive culture where our people, and great work, thrive.

We called the agency Candour for a reason. So, when we decided to apply for the Great Place to Work® certification, we weren't looking for a badge to put in our email signatures. We wanted a reality check.

We wanted to know, objectively and anonymously, if the culture we think we have is the one the team actually experiences.

The certification didn’t happen because we filled in a survey at the right moment – it’s a result of a long-term plan to make Candour a brilliant place to work. We’ve collected feedback over many years, learned from it and made strategic changes over time. That’s why this matters to us.

We asked the team to rate us on everything from pay and management to safety and psychological wellbeing.

The results are in. We are certified, but more importantly, the data validated that we’re doing things right.

The headlines

The certification is based on a Trust Index survey. Here are the statistics from that survey that we are most proud to read:

  • 100% of the team agreed: "I am treated as a full member here regardless of my position."

  • 100% agreed: "People care about each other here."

  • 100% agreed: "Management is competent at running the business."

  • 100% agreed: "I'm proud to tell others I work here."

The woman on the left holds up a brightly coloured, shield-shaped sign that stands out against the monochrome background. The red and blue sign reads:

Breaking down the scores

The survey asks specific questions to measure different aspects of the employee experience. Here is how we scored and what those results mean to us.

1. Integrity

This measures whether the business operates honestly. The survey statements focused on whether management is honest and ethical, if actions match words, and if we deliver on our promises.

We are proud that 100% of the team agrees that we live up to this.

To me, as a director of the business, integrity means being willing to challenge ourselves. Over the years, we have brought in external people specialists to interview the team independently, remove the risk of internal bias, and give us unfiltered feedback – not to validate what we thought or hoped was true, but to show us where we can do better.

2. Competence

This section asks if the leadership team actually knows what they are doing. The team agreed that management has a "clear view of where the organisation is going and how to get there" and, crucially, "hires people who fit in well here."

But competence isn't just about the directors. It’s about how all leadership consistently shows up for the team.

Over time, we’ve invested in developing our leadership team, focusing on sustainable, effective management practices which support growth. That includes clearer performance frameworks designed to nurture the team’s skills and talent, give meaningful feedback and help people progress without pressure.

The survey results highlighted that "Management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulders." We don't micromanage. We hire capable people and give them autonomy to get the job done.

3. Caring

We avoid the "we are a family" cliché, but we do care about the people who work here. The survey results showed that the team feels this is a "psychologically and emotionally healthy place to work" where they are "encouraged to balance their work life and their personal life."

Care is built into the way we work. We developed a range of family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements that allow the team to shape work around life, not the other way around. We invest in a supportive environment where people feel trusted, valued and able to grow.

Specifically, the team agreed that "Management shows a sincere interest in me as a person, not just an employee." Whether it’s taking necessary time off or just being treated like a human being rather than a resource, this score matters to us.

“The level of psychological safety here is strong. It’s one of the most supportive teams I've ever worked with.”

What this means for our work

Internal culture inevitably has an impact on the work we produce.

Because our retention is high, our clients get consistency. They work with account managers and strategists who know their brand history, their challenges and their ambitions, rather than a new hire every few months.

And because the team feels supported, trusted and able to grow, they have the headspace to think strategically, collaborate with other specialists and do better work.

This certification confirms what we’ve worked hard to build – a workplace where people feel heard, respected and supported. We are proud of these results and the stability they represent for our team and our clients alike.
