The Challenge

The Forum is a landmark Norwich building, serving as a venue for the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library and the regional BBC offices. Its public spaces also host numerous important cultural events and festivals throughout the year, resulting in 1.8 million visitors to the building annually.

With a large and varied audience to cater for, the Forum asked us to create a website that was as beautiful, functional and accessible as the building itself.

Discovery

Working closely with the Forum team, we conducted a thorough discovery process to establish a set of user-profiles and organisational needs.

These covered a wide range of activities and use cases, with the building incorporating  essential public services, private businesses, hireable event spaces and even a busy city-centre car park.

Given the very public nature of the website, accessibility and usability were at the forefront of our thinking.

Individually branded subsites

The Forum hosts several large events every year, each with a well-recognised brand. Our multi-site solution enables each event to have its uniquely styled website while running on the same platform as the main site. This approach ensures consistency while allowing for easy updates and management.

The results

The website now mirrors the iconic building's beauty, functionality, and accessibility. A thorough investigation of user and organisational needs, allowed us to create a platform that effectively serves all of The Forum's diverse services and businesses.

The site's success is evident in supporting revenue streams like parking and event hosting while prioritising accessibility and usability, making it an integral online extension of this beloved Norwich landmark.
