We worked closely with Easton and Otley College to create a new website with a much improved, intuitive course-finder facility.
Easton and Otley College are a further and higher education institute with a focus on land-based studies. A previous website was creaking under the strain of a poorly planned information architecture and slow infrastructure.
With a huge range of courses available to students of different ages and career paths, as well as a large amount of broader informational content, Easton and Otley were keen to engage in an in-depth discovery and planning phase to ensure the website worked well for all users.
We worked closely with our expert partners at The User Story during the planning phases of the site. They conducted card sorting sessions to help to create a logical and efficient information architecture scheme.
From this we created working prototypes of key user journeys and processes to ensure we had a viable user experience model before moving into the full design and build phases of the project.
Our friends at The Click provided a digital style guide based on their previous work with the college on creating their visual identity. We used this as a basis to create bespoke page templates and components across the site.
We used Statamic, a flat-file CMS that is built on Laravel as a framework for the build. A flat-file CMS ensures blisteringly fast performance and building on an application framework ensures the flexibility required to allow for future developments.
The site has been incredibly well-received and we look forward to continue to work with the college to progressively review and enhance the site.
